Living in Miami, we are blessed to see bougainvillea, palms, and calusia each and every day.  The endless summer means blooms never die and trees do not go dormant.

What I miss about my many Chicago spring times are the tulips along the medians on Lake Shore Drive and the container gardens that literally sprout on every patio, roof deck and streetscape.  Visits to Alexandria, Virginia during my time at United Way always provided my annual container garden fix.

While in DC, we noticed several beds of tulips that included an errant bloom.  Near the United States Supreme Court, the entire complement of tulips was white save one that was red.  In Washington Square, one lone yellow bloom flourished in the midst of a sea of pinkish orange flowers.  Gotta love a rebel bloom! Be the red bloom {or the yellow one}!
