As my family enjoys our last day in Beaver Creek, Colorado, a light snow is falling. The mountain vistas in each view, the relaxed staff at the Westin, and the rush of the sporting pursuits have all made for a fantastic spring break. But, my favorite memory will be the four of us, in front of the giant fireplace in the lobby watching Loyola-Chicago make it into the Final Four. A delicious meal of mushroom pizza with truffle oil, a fabulous Cabernet and some crunchy Brussel sprouts were just the beginning as fire-roasted marshmallows concluded the dining festivities. We are all kids when it comes to S’mores!
But, this meal would not have been nearly so memorable without the cozy sectional seating. Squishy, but not too squishy. Low to the ground, but not so low that a 48-year old cannot get back up after a day involving lots of quad work. Last year, we purchased a navy velvet sectional from Room and Board which is just as fantastic as the seating at the Westin, so when we get back home we can get our cozy on. And, with some homemade pizza and a good cabernet, we will be all set for the Final Four!
