A LOT! No, I am not moving to Washington, DC. Not now, anyway. However, after a few days in our nation’s capital, I have contemplated my real estate options here. So, dream with me.
There are a gold standard neighborhoods to consider: Georgetown, and Kalorama, near Dupont Circle. We spent our first evening in DC having dinner at Pizza Paradiso, a walk from the tony Kalorama neighborhood, and the third night in Georgetown. And, tomorrow, while my hubby and son are at a National’s game, Lucy and I will find a third neighborhood to investigate.
Dupont Circle is a thriving hub of restaurants, shops, and an inordinate amount of coffee. Our taxi driver correctly noted that coffee was a great business opportunity in Dupont Circle because of all the foot traffic–everything from Starbucks to Krispy Kreme and Saxby’s seems to be jumping. There is a dreamy house, which frankly looks like it needs a bit work on the interiors, for sale at 2200 Kalorama Rd, NW. This charming 8100-square foot 7 bedroom, 7 bathroom home is available for the sweet price of $5.5 million. The next owner will not need to worry about being politically correct. With the Obamas and the Ivanka Trump family as neighbors, all ideologies are covered.
Taking a short drive to Georgetown finds us at 3245 N Street NW which is available for just under $10,000,000. Remember, I invited you to dream with me. This listing is truly a showstopper. The exterior is remarkable, the interior finishes are stunning and the home is walking distance to amazing retail and dining such as NikeTown, Intermix, Athleta, and Flavio. {Although, we found Georgetown Cupcake to be completely overrated and the staff a touch surly, there’s a lot to love at meal time in this neighborhood!}
So, all this DC dreaming is courtesy of our friends at Zillow. It’s amazing what we can find when we place no upper limit on our price range.
