Kim Hernandez and Lois Holbrook Russo of The Gallery Interiors, repeated as featured designers at the 2018 Junior League of Miami Designer Showhouse. Kim and Lois designed and curated two of my favorite spaces at the 2016 Showhouse at the Kampong–the study and the powder room on the first floor. The study featured silver leaf on the ceiling, a constellation light fixture and a stunning marble desk. The powder room was a dazzling jewel box with spectacular emerald green and a lacquered door with a centered gilded handle.
This year, the pair selected Marian Deering’s room at the venue for the 2018 Showhouse, The Deering Estate. The room with an en suite bathroom, situated on the second floor, at the front of the home facing the expansive bay, was transformed into a fabulous, feminine space. From the foliage-filled bathtub to the sitting area graced by, well, Jesus, the space is both serene and stylish.
A reference to Eastern spirituality graces the room; “The most precious gift we can offer others is our presence. When mindfulness embraces those we love, they will bloom like flowers.” -Thich Nhat Hanh. A gorgeous sentiment.
My favorite element was the small seating area in the en suite bath. A brass wire seat, embellished with a charcoal, furry cushion and paired with a stunning stone table makes for the perfect place to contemplate life.
